Postal Optimization
NAC has long strived to develop options that allow mailers to harness the power
of efficiency, creating a powerful "trifecta" of services and process to allow our
customers to optimize not only potential postal savings, but reduce overall costs, offer
better in-home dates, and provide a framework of reliability of results. The processes
include:
Whether utilized individually or collectively, these services provide the key to
unlocking efficiency and savings. Unlike many other mailers, NAC offers commingling and copalletization within our production facilities, alleviating obstacles such as additional freight,
scheduling, and the lack of flexibility to accommodate changes in mailing composition;
coupled with regionalization, our clients have access to the most comprehensive services
at the points closest to the final delivery point.
Commingling
Commingling is a process of merging mail to create saturation levels that will optimize postal savings. By combining different mail strings into a single stream, larger groupings of each 5-digit zip can be created, allowing for the 150 piece USPS-required minimum for each 5-digit zip code to be met and postal discounts to be realized. This process allows the mailer to maintain the cost savings of targeting their mailings and the cost savings of greater zip saturation. The combination of commingling and drop shipment creates greater postal optimization.
Copalletization
Copalletization is a process of creating new destination specific mail pallets by placing trays and bundles of mail from separated versions or cells from a single mailing or different versions or cells from several mailings by the same customer. All copalletized materials are produced by version in accordance with the applicable USPS standards (including Enhanced Carrier Route, automation, and Presorts). Copalletization differs from commingling in that copalletization does not merge the mail together to create the bundle minimums; the mail is already presorted individually, it is the creating higher saturations by destination.
Regionalization
North American Communications has three facilities across the country that combine to produce over nine million mail packages per day. With strategic locations in California/Tijuana, Pennsylvania, and Texas/Juarez, NAC, has a geographic advantage against its competition.
Regionalized Mail Production allows the company to offer national Bulk Mail Center and Sectional Central Facility (BMC/SCF) delivery with favorable pricing in less time. Rather than trucking from one production facility to BMC/SCF across the country, NAC can deliver mail faster by producing and BMC/SCF delivering from the location that makes the most sense for the final mail destination. This regional mail model is more cost effective than delivering from a single plant. Trucking costs average 45% lower compared to mailing from one location. This freight cost-savings enables NAC to ship a higher portion of mail BMC/SCF, which means lower postage costs for our consumers. Not only do our clientele enjoy significantly reduced distribution trucking costs, but the fastest in-home cycle time in the industry, as well.
